Over the years, A More Excellent Way Health Improvement Organization in Vallejo, CA has held various events that help educate families about several health topics, including nutrition and breastfeeding. We also offer parent support and empowerment through virtual meetings.

Additionally, we conduct baby showers in an effort to address health disparities in perinatal outcomes of African-American women and infants. Feel free to sign up for any of our events. You may also volunteer and donate!

THE 20TH ANNUAL SOLANO COUNTY AFRICAN AMERICAN FREE COMMUNITY BABY SHOWER

A More Excellent Way Health Improvement Organization (MEW) is celebrating its 20th year of supporting the health of new families through our Community Baby Shower Program. we are inviting pregnant and early postpartum families to register and attend

A More Excellent Way Health Organization and community partners are inviting African-American pregnant & breastfeeding women and expectant fathers of African Descent to the Virtual and Drive-Thru “More Excellent Way Community Baby Shower” on Saturday, February 22nd from 10 – 2 pm The Zoom celebration is from 10:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by the Drive Thru Health Fair at Emmanuel Temple Apostolic Church, 900 6th Street in Vallejo, CA during California’s Black Infant Health Awareness Week. It’s a huge celebration of life!

This event is free of charge and will include Zoom health and education workshops conducted by doctors, nurses, lactation specialist and mental health specialist. This virtual shower will include fun, culturally tailored games where families can win car seats, strollers, bassinets and more!

Next is the walk-thru health and resource fair that will include incentives, and free food. The baby shower will assist couples in accessing prenatal and other health and social services and essential supplies. We have special attractions for mothers, partners, siblings and a Grandmother’s Tea! It’s a family affair! Black babies die at twice the rate of other babies before they reach their first birthday. African-American women die at 3 times the rate of any other race from preventable labor and delivery complications. Improving the pregnancy and birth outcomes of African American women continues to be a goal of A More Excellent Way Health, our partners Emmanuel Temple Apostolic Church and Partnership HealthPlan of California and several other collaborating agencies. We provide assistance to Bay Area families by promoting the importance of early and culturally humble prenatal care, education and support to improve their pregnancy outcomes.

WALK-UP RESOURCE FAIR

The 20th Annual Solano County African American Community Baby Shower is scheduled to occur on Saturday, February 22nd, 2025. The walk-up resource fair is a vital part of the shower to connect families to essential services and resources to improve their birth outcomes. If you consider your organization as a critical safety net for families, we hope you will participate.

The event will be outdoors at Emmanuel Temple Apostolic Church, 900 6th Street in Vallejo, CA. You will need to bring a canopy, table, and chairs. More than ever, these families need our support and encouragement.
